Assistant Professor, Communication and Sport Studies Department

Medaille College seeks a full-time, Assistant Professor of the Practice to teach in the Communication and Sport Studies Department starting in August 2020. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach courses in the area of eSports. Capability to operate computer equipment in eSports Lab/Arena including knowledge of gaming platforms. Must have competitive level experience with online video games, expert knowledge of League of Legends or similar game, as well as knowledge of the National Association of Collegiate eSports  (NACE) rules and regulations  Focus areas include but are not limited to; history of eSports, ecosystems, infrastructure, genres, and business models. Additional program content includes eSports event management, project management and marketing. Knowledge of eSports, game design, promotions, KPI (Key Performance Indicators) and performance data is useful.

Applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching in a small college setting and to the education of diverse populations, a perceived ability to work productively with students, and the ability to work effectively with others in a collegial environment dedicated to student learning. Faculty are required to foster a diverse, inclusive and welcoming learning environment. A doctorate in business or a related field from a regionally accredited institution is preferred and prior teaching experience is preferred. Master’s Degree with demonstrated eSports expertise also a plus.
