Assistant Professor, Clinical Mental Health Counseling

The Department of Graduate Counseling and Psychology at Medaille College is actively seeking applications for two full-time positions as a non-tenure-track clinical assistant professor to teach in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program located in Buffalo, New York, with secondary campuses online and in Rochester, New York.  Medaille College has a well-established, accredited program with an excellent reputation for experiential learning, a contemporary curriculum, and experienced faculty with various areas of specialty and expertise. Start date is as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate (No ABD’s will be considered) in Counselor Education or a related field, must be either New York State licensed or license-eligible as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, have at least three years of clinical and/or teaching experience at the graduate level in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and have experience working with CACREP.

The College offers its master’s degree program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, which provides academic preparation for students who wish to pursue licensure as a Mental Health Counselor in New York State (LMHC). The program is designed for working adults with classes offered in two formats: Rochester and Buffalo Campuses with weekend teaching formats, and Online Campus offers online format with campus residencies. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • teaching a wide range of graduate-level courses in Mental Health Counseling
  • advising and mentoring students
  • supervising students as they move through their clinical placements
  • engaging in professional development activities
  • being commitment to expanding program service/outreach/engagement relationships
  • being involved in professional counseling related organizations
  • contributing to scholarship within the profession, including clinical practice
  • demonstrating ability to contribute to the core programs
  • demonstrating ability to collaborate with colleagues on projects, such as research and grants
  • being a team player with current faculty and college-wide departments
  • supporting program development and maintenance of courses
  • working with CACREP accreditors
  • providing service to the College
  • supporting the program’s admissions process with student interviews and application reviews
  • supporting clinical placements within the community
