Academic Advisor, Upward Bound Program
The Academic Advisor for the Upward Bound (TRIO) program is a 12-month position serving low-income, first generation youth with activities and guidance to provide opportunities for precollegiate academic success. The Upward Bound program assists students in gaining the knowledge and skills required to graduate from high school, and enroll in and graduate from post-secondary institutions.
This position works cooperatively with Upward Bound colleagues, Buffalo Public School district staff, and local partners to recruit and select eligible participants, advise a caseload of participants, and design intrusive services, including tutoring, financial aid, and college preparatory guidance.
A Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in psychology, education, or closely related field required; Master’s degree preferred. Applicant must possess at least one year of experience working with low-income youth and have knowledge of the financial aid process, postsecondary admission procedures, and community relations.
